Toronto Brass win 'Festival of the Bands'
Toronto Brass won the Hunter Regional Championships 'Festival of the Bands' on 13 June 2010, coming first in Division 1.
The band played a wide range of entertaining music, including music from Irish dance spectacular "Riverdance", the "Fanfare of the Bells" and "Moon River". The band featured baritone player Nick Scott in the fiendishly difficult solo "Grand Russian Fantasia", accompanied by the band.
Conductor Tim O'Hearn said he was delighted with the band's performance. "It's great to see the reaction of the audience when the band plays such enjoyable music" he said, "I'm proud of the whole band's playing".
Toronto Brass's next engagement will be the Concert with other ensembles at Halekulani Bowling Club in Budgewoi on 27 June 2010, commencing at 2.30 pm. Come and be entertained by the Hunter's 'Festival of the Bands' champions!
Nick wins U19 Any Brass Instrument at Sydney Metros
Congratulations are due to baritone player Nick Scott, who completed in the Sydney Metros championships on 15 and 16 May 2010, coming 1st in the under 19 Any Brass Instrument section and 2nd in the under 19 Concerto section. Well done Nick!Welcome
Welcome to the Toronto and Districts Brass Band (Toronto Brass) website.The Toronto Brass band follows the UK brass band tradition, and regularly competes in regional and national competitions at a B-grade level.
We rehearse on Thursday nights in Rathmines, just south of Toronto in the Lake Macquarie area of New South Wales, Australia.
The band includes members with a range of abilities and ages, and new players are always welcome!
We perform a range of music at various occasions, from ANZAC day marches, to jazz standards, to traditional hymns and pop tunes!
